Pre-Planning Thread for the (possible) PCG Exodus

I believe that a fairly easy way of getting more premium players is to make non-premiums play with premium players. I also think it is a lot more fun for most people involved since it brings the game together.

Therefor the goal is to let non-premiums play with premium players again. The login server will be used as a tutorial area.
Now unless I'm mis-interpreting this post it sounds like the moving of Free Accounts from Golden Valley (Free Server) to Freedom (Premium Server) is going ahead. This offers us some great opportunities since it allows some members to start paying a subscription to get access to the premium abilities whilst allowing Free Accounts to live alongside them in the (New) PCG Village. Now no official announcements have been made so we've no idea what sort of time scale we're talking about, but since the discussion of ideas has already been started in the village IRC I thought it only fair to open the discussion up to everyone.

This is not a planning thread, we still don't know the exact details of the move or the final deed costs. This is just a thread for starting the ideas flowing and collecting some important information.

What we need to know:

  • Who will be moving to the new village?
  • How many will be going premium?
  • When are you coming?
(i.e. a large group will probably set out together, not all will be able to make it.)
  • What will you do when you get there?
(Some might want to pay for their own plot on the edge of the village.)

Secondly, we need to start thinking up ideas. What kind of buildings do we need? (Communal should be built first.) How big a plot should every member have? Should premium have bigger or should they pay for their own if they want more? Do we want to elect a leader\council or will it all be run by the forums? Or do we want a mix, forums for planning and major decisions, council for keeping order? There are many more things to start discussing but I shall stop listing here for the moment. So get posting.

If any of my above post was not clear then please post below and hopefully we can clarify. :)

A PCG Village in Freedom is exactly what the community needs, I know we have all fallen in love with the village we are currently in but a project like this brings us all together. I know there maybe limitations on the amount of citizenships available, but regardless I still thing this will be a good oppurtunity for old and new players alike.

I for one would be delighted to go to Freedom, and, if its all well and good I may possibly go premium (this depends whether I will get to have more time on wurm, permitting my brother breaks out of his CoD addiction.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that preferably I would like to join in the 'first' wave, but I don't have a problem staying behind for a bit if anyone needs to

I guess i'll jot down a few of my views relating to the questions posed.

Of course, it's pretty much a given that i'll be sticking with the ol' PCG gang, count me in. :P

I'll also be going premium, and will be travelling with the main group. When we get there I would focus my attention on getting a workable "village centre" set up, ie. the communal stuff we need. After that, i'll pay for my own deed and live on the outskirts as to not take up valuable village space for those who need it (such as those remaining free or who can't afford their own deed).

As for buildings, the Soup Kitchen is a given. I think it would also be nice to rebuild a nice new version of the Klaatu Garden to use as a communal farm, with a communal livestock farm next to it called Red Dove. Very sentimental I know, but i'm sure a lot of you have become attached to our existing buildings like I have. :D

The lumberyard and masonry commission, though not essential at the start, would also be worth remaking at some point (maybe with the lumberyard, refocusing so it is a place to store planks and as a base for reforesting areas rather than building enclosed mini-forests).

For house plots, I think we'd probably have to decide that upon seeing the area, though I think 8 tiles like we have now is a good bet considering it works with our limited space. I'm not sure about a division between premium and non-premium on that though, I suppose it depends on space but perhaps premium should be entitled to more space, not because they can afford to pay but because they can achieve higher skills etc and are therefore able to aid the village and the non-premiums easier. But as I said, i'm not sure on that, I wouldn't want to make the non-premiums amongst us to feel lesser in any way. ;)

As for leadership, I think we should have a "council" based on whoever has been around the longest and understands how we do things, similar to how we do things now with the writs and such. Any major decisions should be discussed amongst everyone though, of course.

And that's it. :D

I will be coming.I will probably subscribe, but due to time constraints my premium status would probably lapse every now and again. I will be in the first wave to depart for Freedom once we're able to transition. I'd to start with live within the village, but if I enjoyed the experience on Freedom I'd buy myself a homestead and live on the outskirts.

In terms of communal buildings, I'd say we need the Soup Kitchen again with food storage, an oven, and some communal storage. We might also want some kind of 'factory' or at least a communal building with a loom in it. We need farms for food and for rope/cotton.

I think we ought to have a council to act as binding arbiters in cases where agreement cannot be reached, or where two parties need someone to mediate.

Oh yes, I forgot to say, landscape permitting I think a PCG mine would also be a priority. Even if we each take dozens of nails, door locks etc with us, we're still going to need more after a short space of time.

I'll probably come along with the main group, and help out with the communal buildings, then we can get to work on the village itself :D

Well me, Ark and JT are currently setting up at the site, there is tar and clay easily accessable at the end of two jettys and we currently know of a small mine with iron. Unfortunatly we do not have good access to this at the moment so a new mine will need to be constructed at some point, or a new enterance created.

About how many people do you think will come to freedom?

Does this mean the portals are now open for everyone?

And is this going to be at the site Jekev recommended for me, hughesy, KGB, and ArthurX?

EDIT: I recommend we call the village 'New PCG'
